Egomaniac: The Betrayal

Technically this one happened before I left for Ireland, but I couldn't do it there because all my stuff was at home, haha. I'm not lugging my Cintiq out of the country!

Also, I would like to add that I am sorry for putting Think Tank number one in this comic. It hurts to look at, ugh. But to be fair, that was posted on March 6, 2002. It was the very first comic I ever made. Actually, some of you guys might not know what I'm even talking about. So I suppose some sort of intro is in order.

The guy I'm talking to in this comic is Steve, the man who wrote Think Tank, which was a comic I drew from 2002-2007. It started as him and I just doing comics about stupid customers we encountered in retail, but soon turned into all sorts of weird stuff. And for the record, I draw Steve the same way in Egomaniac as I did in Think Tank, I just shaved off his beard, haha.

Also! Since I did all those wrestler drawings, I've been more and more interested in using textures in my comics. So you'll notice this one looks like its made of construction paper. I scanned a sheet and used it for the texture, woo!

Egomaniac: Again and Again

Remember this comic? Jeff read it, and this conversation happened. I told him I should have made the comic end that way. I thought maybe I wouldn't make it a comic because it would be a small one, but then I thought, "wait a minute, Egomaniac is my comic! I can do whatever the hell I want!" So Egomaniac 77.5 was born.

I made this one a little different than my usual comics, instead of shading it in the colors, I used tones in Manga Studio. What do you think? As a comparison, I shaded it like normal too, see?

So does it work? Is it better, worse? Does it even matter, haha?

Egomaniac: Funny

I honestly can't remember the movies I sent out to him...I know I sent the first...five or six seasons of Penn and Teller's Bullshit! But beyond that I can't remember what his requests were.

Oh! No! There was the Pirates of the Caribbean movies and Fargo. Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas. That's at least five. Why couldn't I think of those when I made the comic? Ah well.

But yeah, I sent out movies I liked. Most of them had Seth Rogen in them. (This is all in reference to this comic, in case you don't remember.)

Part of me was thinking I should say "hey, can you guess the movies based on the drawings in the bottom panel?" But I kinda gave it away between panel two and three. Ah well.

Tyler Reks

Tyler Reks? T Reks? Really? I drew him? Huh. Dude's had what, three, four televised matches? Yeah, I dunno where this one came from. He seems like he's got potential, but we never get to see him. His surfer gimmick is awful though. It's 2009, we don't need goofy characters anymore.

Evan Bourne

I decided to try something a little different with this one, and I toned it in Manga Studio. I kinda dig how it turned out, we'll see how this works.

Holy hell is that guy impressive.

Egomaniac: I Alone

This happened exactly like this. Mom went somewhere, I thought to myself "Woo, my own house! I can do whatever I want!" And promptly fell asleep playing Xbox.

Adventure, excitement? A jedi craves not these things.

I don't remember what game it was, but I'm sure it was a great one!

And for the record, (a phrase I use waaaay too much,) the Modern Masters I'm reading in panel one took longer to draw than most of the rest of the stuff in this comic, haha.

Egomaniac: ALone + Easy Target

I haven't posted a real comic this week! Let's change that now.

This one is actually relatively new! I try to post older comics first, and I've been going in relative order for a while now, but this one has kind of a shelf life, so here it is!

And for the record, I don't have a Blue Beetle shirt. But I would totally wear one!

11/5/09-11/6/09

`

I drew a few comics when I was in Ireland, but I drew them all very quickly, so forgive how awful they look, haha. I just had some quick ideas I wanted to get down.

The old days

So, for some reason, I Started scanning some of my old pictures so I could have digital copies of them, just in case, I guess. I'm wondering what you guys think of this.

This is how the picture looks right after I scan it.

This is how it looks after I messed with the color in PS a bit.

I honestly don't know which I prefer. On one hand, I like that the old time pictures have that old time look to them, you know? But on the other, I like how clean it looks with the fixed version.

I plan on scanning them all and saving them as they are and not messing with the colors. If I decide I want to, I can do that later. I was just wondering what you all thought.

And for the record, that was my first christmas, 12-25-1982. That's me and my dad, and based on what the back of the pictures say, I think this is at my grandma's (dad's mom) house.

Egomaniac: Hail Hail

`

I think this is the first Egomaniac I've done that I'm not in...Although I narrate it, so that counts for something!

And for the record, the only bottle is mine all the way on the left, the red one. It's body wash, in case anyone was keeping score.
