sketch of the Whatever: 4/1/08

Okay, today I've got a couple things.

Up first is just a page of girl faces. Can you tell if I was looking at a specific artist for a while when I did this?

I've also got this, which is a bit more involved than what I tend to do. See, one time at work, Jeff and I were talking about how years from now how awesome it will be when the Undertaker makes a surprise return long after his retirement. All of a sudden, the lights will go out and when they come back on he'll be standing in the middle of the ring, everyone else on the mat. All grey haired and intimidating. So I felt like drawing that.

And here's a page of digital shit. As we all know, every once in a while I get it in my head that I should go digital with my work. Well, I don't see that happening unless I get a Cintiq, but this sort of thing comes out every now and again. Points if anyone can guess who the more realistic looking guy is. And Macho Liz might be the most disturbing thing I've drawn in a while.

New Music Wednesdays

"I Know I'm Not Alone" by Michael Franti and Spearhead

I found Michael Franti through a "Blender Presents" rack at Best Buy. I had never heard of him, but the description of the album sounded interesting, so I checked it out. I'm glad I did, "Yell Fire!" is a fantastic album. Later on, Liz got me "Songs From the Front Porch: An Acoustic Collection" which is great too. The song I wanted to post today was off that album, and it's called "Stay Human," but I couldn't find a good version of it on Youtube.

Anyway! This guy is good, check him out.

Egomaniac: Sticky Situation

Okay, so maybe this happened last Easter. I make the comics, so maybe it happened THIS Easter! Aha!

Alright, it was last Easter. Anyway!

This is exactly how my dad is. I was planning on posting this comic today, and sure enough on Saturday, Laura made him laugh while drinking, and well, guess what happened.

I feel like I butchered the liknesesses in this one, as usual. We all know that drawing a likeness isn't my specialty, but I really wasn't happy with how these ones turned out. Ah well. Learn something new for another day, right?

New Music Wednesdays/New experience

Misstake, by the Horrorpops

This comes from the album Hell Yeah, which I bought based on the album art, which is something I rarely ever do. This time it worked out great for me, cause I love these guys. It's very poppy music with the big ol' rockabilly influence in there, and I am a big fan.
----------------------------------------
So, I now know how to change a tire. I was on the way to work, and my car started hooking really hard to the right, like someone was grabbing the wheel and turning it. Then my car started vibrating really hard...like I was driving in an earthquake hard. I pulled over into a parking lot to discover my tire was completely flat and had two holes in it. Great. My dad came out and showed me what to do, and I put on the spare, and then later in the night took that off and changed it to a new tire. So I can do that now, woo!

Think Tank. Think Tank?!?

Yep, it's true! Yesterday, the 16th of March, marked a full year since Steve and I wrapped up Think Tank.

What can I say, I couldn't make it a full year. See, Steve told me this story, which by the way is entirely true, and I thought to myself I oughta make it a comic. But it's Steve's story, and I thought "well, I just posted that Resident Evil comic where it's me and Steve talking on AIM," and I figured this one wouldn't be much different. So I brought the old boys out of storage for this one.

Steve was laughing at the whole situation, not laughing like a mental patient in real life, but I figured this was better.

I don't expect this to be some sort of relaunch of Think Tank, but I would be very much behind that, hint hint!

I think it would be cool to do a comic with Steve every once in a while again. We could just update whenever we had time, not stick to any specific deadline, kinda like how I've been doing Egomaniac. Could be fun.

New Music Wednesdays/Explanation

Secretly, by Skunk Anansie

I first heard about Skunk Anansie when I found out they once toured with Rollins Band. I saw a picture of the lead singer, Skin:

And thought "wow, if that's the lead singer what the hell do they sound like?" And I looked into their music and just fell in love. They've only got a few albums out, but they're all worth listening to.

I am such a sucker for a good rock band with a great female lead, and I think Skunk Anansie might be one of the first bands that got me into that mindset.
--------------------------------------
So, I haven't updated much lately, and the reason behind that is school, pretty much. See, right now I'm on spring break, and that means I should have some time. But no, my teachers dumped homework on me to do during break, and on top of that I have an online class that I've pretty much been blowing off, so I'm busting my ass trying to get as much work for that done while I can. Oh, and my room is finally getting finished up, so I've been busy. I haven't forgotten about posting comics, I just haven't had much time. I'll post more, I promise!

New Music Wednesdays

So, if you know anything about me, you know how much I love finding new bands and hearing new music. So in the interest of that, I'm gonna start posting videos to songs on Wednesdays. I was gonna do it on Tuesdays, but I didn't have time and figured "why not just make it new music Wednesdays?" So there you have it! I listen to lots of different kinds of music, so hopefully you'll find some new to you band and just fall in love with them. I love it when that happens! (Yeah, I'll just repost this same description every time, heh.)

Under Pressure by Queen and David Bowie.
Okay, so, this song shouldn't be new to anybody. I mean, it's Queen and David Bowie. Doesn't everyone know this song at this point? So, then you might wonder why I am posting this song today. Well, first off, it's my journal and I can post whatever music I want to. Ha! Second, it's my favorite song of all time. That's why! I just never get tired of hearing this song.
